Due to a new change with iRacing’s overall service, ATC will now utilize tire blankets during qualifying. These blankets were already available and mandatory race starts, but now they will help drivers get up to speed quicker in qualifying sessions.

The change is expected actually mostly nullify the change to qualifying this season. The session had been trimmed from four laps to just three, meaning that drivers realistically would only have two real flying laps to go for their best times. With the new blankets, drivers should be able to begin to extract the maximum out of the car on their very first flying lap, potentially meaning all three qualifying laps have a chance to be the fastest.

ATC15 begins on August 4th at Belle Isle.
